Looking for an opportunity to try something new while giving back to your community? Many local social-service agencies are in great need of volunteers. Your efforts will not only help you fine-tune your PR skills, they will also provide much-needed service to deserving community organizations. Community service can serve as a resume builder and can even help you maintain accreditation. All professionals with an APR must earn a minimum of 10 maintenance points every three years.
For more information about PR volunteer opportunities, please respond to the specific requests below. If you'd like to add a volunteer opportunity to this page, email Michael Schwabe.
The Humane Society of Greater Akron
The non-profit organization is in the midst of the most exciting times in its history. There's a lot going on between events, fundraisers and ongoing media relations needs.
The ideal candidate would be someone passionate about dogs and cats with the ability and time to write an occasional press release and help distribute it. The person could be entry level or even a student with a good internship under his/her belt. Time commitment is difficult to predict, but would most likely be in the range of 8-12 hours per month.
