Eligibility
Students who are majoring in public relations or communications (with an interest in public relations as a career) at Kent State University, Malone College, Mount Union College, The University of Akron and Walsh University are eligible to apply.

Scholarship Award
The winner of the David A. Meeker Scholarship will receive $1,000 – and a one-year associate membership to PRSA following graduation.  In addition, the Scholarship Committee will award associate memberships in PRSA to two other qualified applicants. (The associate memberships in PRSA do not include any applicable local chapter dues – unless you are joining the Akron Area Chapter PRSA.)

It is expected that the winners will be announced in November 2007.

Application Process - Read Carefully!

1) Complete the online application here.

2) Obtain at least one recommendation from a faculty member who can highlight your accomplishments in preparing for a career in public relations.  This recommendation must be mailed to Akron Area Chapter PRSA, David A. Meeker Scholarship, P.O Box 13038, Akron, Ohio 44334-8438.

3) Mail an official college transcript to the same address as listed above. Submit, if you want, any other material – writing examples, for instance – that would enhance your scholarship application.  Mail this material to the address listed above. Note: This is not required for your application to be reviewed for the scholarship.

The online application and other required items must be received by October 19, 2007.
